About The Walk

On the walk you will hear about old and more recent canal history as well as future plans, plus answers to questions like: Why does Stonehouse Ocean exist? Why are 8 houses called 'Newtown'? Why 'Blunder Lock'? Why are 'Forest Green Rovers' a ‘dead good team'?

The walk ends at Westfield Bridge looking towards the M5 and the 'Missing Mile'. Make your own way back or join the leaders as we return through the fields beside the River Frome.

  • 4-6 miles depending on return route
  • St Cyr's will be open for tower tours and refreshments before the walk.
  • Dogs are not advisable due to the narrow towpath.
  • Booking required

Walk Leader: Andrew Franks Cotswold Canals Trust Volunteer
