About Stonehouse
Did you know that the small town of Stonehouse in Gloucestershire sits alongside the restored Stroudwater Canal, the Cotswold Way and the River Frome? Or that it has a thatched cottage, a waterfall, a vineyard, a working paper bag factory (since 1922) and the delightful Ocean?
There are amazing views walking in all directions, either straight up and around Doverow hill, along the canal, or across fields and woodland to other small villages. Stonehouse town is mostly flat and is very accessible for all including users of mobility vehicles. There is a good variety of shops and refreshments available in town.

Stonehouse was awarded a Gold from the Heart of England in Bloom judges last September, who also rated the newly completed Old Chapel Garden 'Outstanding' in the separate It's Your Neighbourhood competition. More information here.

The Stonehouse Community Arboretum includes all of the trees on public and private land, in the urban and rural parts of Stonehouse. Ultimately its intention is to create a diverse collection of trees, responsibly and sustainably planted and cared for, which will deliver a wide range of benefits to the Stonehouse community and encourage people to visit the town. Stroud town is about 2.5 miles drive, 1 stop on the train, or a very pleasant hours' walk along the canal. The surrounding hills can also be accessed on foot from Stonehouse without having to walk on or cross many roads.

How to find us
Stonehouse is located near Stroud in Gloucestershire, UK. The town centre is 2.5 miles east of the M5 motorway, junction 13, and has good public transport links:
Train: Stonehouse Railway Station: nationalrail.co.uk or 03457 484950 for train times. There are regular direct train services to London and Cheltenham Spa.
Buses: 64, 65 and 66 will stop in the High Street. There are regular services from Stroud, Gloucester, Dursley and Cheltenham.
Car: The public car park is just off the High Street, near most of the walk starting points, and has toilets including a disabled toilet. Post code: GL10 2N.

Cycle: There are good cycle routes from Nailsworth (following the old railway and along the bypass), Saul, Frampton, Whitminster, and even Gloucester or Slimbridge via the canal. There are bike racks throughout Stonehouse.
