Sunset & Green Walk

An evening walk across fields to the site of the old Standish Hospital grounds, which has now been developed for housing. In addition to the original house, the two ward blocks are now apartments, the Grade 2 listed stable block has been restored and the hydrotherapy pool building has also been retained.

The grounds hold a lovely collection of trees including the UK Champion cork oak, a beautiful cut-leaf beech and a magnificent Wellingtonia.

The estate now has its very own bat house, and there is a chance we may spot a few near the pond.

• This is a flattish walk but with some rough terrain.
• Dogs welcome.
